The Rose City Classic!

My favorite show of the year is this coming weekend! I love this show because: 1) they offer agility, 2) they have LOTS of shopping and 3) they offer agility!

This is the only trial in this area where agility is held in a lovely, warm building. A clean building. With matted floors. It is NOT in a dirty, muck-filled, bone-chilling-cold  horse barn.

I don’t mind the horse barns in the spring and the fall, but in the winter–that’s just brutal!

Zoey! will be running in the Jumpers with Weaves class on Friday and Monday. Her ‘cousin’ Sky will be showing in obedience those days as well, and will HOPEFULLY earn the last leg of his UDX title.

Zoey! earned her very first performance title (the “RN”) at this show 4 years ago:

The Perpetual Motion Machine

Zoey! is a non-stop bundle of energy. The ironic part of that statement is that I just had a full blood panel done on her–my vet and I decided it would be a good idea to have a ‘baseline’ set of values for her so that if anything were to show up in the future on a blood panel, we’d have something to compare the values to. Anyhow, my vet called me to give me the results and as it turns out, Zoey’s! thyroid levels are on the low side. She said we’ll keep an eye on it and put her on thyroid meds in the future if it is warranted. I told her I really wasn’t sure I wanted a more-active Zoey! and she agreed that we might want to wait until she’s 15 or 16 years old before we actually treat her for any hypothyroidism.

Sixth Photo Tag

My friend Shannon, over at Kenleigh Acres, invited me to participate in the ’sixth photo tag’ that seems to be going around. Here’s what I came across when I did my search:

Taken at my mom’s house back in October–a rare opportunity to catch Zoey! (yes, I’m officially changing her name from Zoey to Zoey! because of her ‘enthusiasm’ for life) relaxing for a moment. Of course, Zoey! rarely shuts her eyes even when she’s lying down–you never know when someone might ask you to do something (run? jump?) and if you were to shut your eyes, you just might miss out on the opportunity…

oh hey–guess what? it’s snowing…and snowing…and snowing…

oh hey. still snowing. at first they said another 2 inches today. now they are saying 4 or 5 inches today.

they suspect we’ll be closing in on 20 inches total by the end of the day.

and they say,

“this is some sort of snow record for portland.” imagine that.

last winter (the whole winter) we had no snow. zero. the year before we had 1 inch (over the course of three months). and now we’ll have 18 or 19 inches in three days.

rugby has decided that it’s just easier to poop in the house than to go outside.

who can blame him?

Oh Hey–it’s still SNOWING

We had about 7 inches of snow on the ground last night. Then we got some freezing rain early this morning. That left us with about a half-inch of ice on top of all that snow.

Tonight, it’s snowing. Again. The weatherman just said we could get another 4 inches or so.

CRAZY snow!

We’re up to about 4 or 5 inches right now–and it’s still coming down at a rapid pace. It hasn’t stopped at all today–and the temperature just keeps dropping (it’s about 22 degrees right now with gusty east winds). The dogs are loving it–as am I.

2009 Cardigan Welsh Corgi Calendar is done!

I finished my 2009, “The Corgis of 41st Avenue” calendar tonight. I try to make a custom book or calendar every year at Christmas to give to the staff at the veterinary clinic that I go to. Of course, I always have a few extra copies printed to give out to other friends of the Cardi crew.

I had a calendar made through “Shutterfly” last year and was very happy with the quality of it. They are printed on heavy weight card stock and the colors are quite vivid. I think this year’s Corgi calendar is even better than last years–I can’t wait to get it!

Anyone wanting to take a sneak peak can see it on the Shutterfly site.

(The link seems to be working now–for awhile there tonight it wasn’t).
