Zoey makes a brief (very brief) appearance on “The Today Show”

So about a month or so ago, I entered Zoey in the “Best in Show” contest being sponsored by “The Today Show”. I submitted a video of her playing basketball–and a few days after I entered her, I got a call from the folks at the show saying I was, “in the running” to be a finalist. Oh–and to be prepared to fly to NYC at any moment. Ok.

Well, as it turned out, we weren’t picked–they announced the 4 finalists last week: A dog who plays golf, a singing dog, a dog who reads and a 3-legged rescue dog.

Today they announed the winner and ran a brief segment showing some of the other entries–including Zoey! My friend Shannon (who is also Zoey’s breeder), caught the segment this morning and emailed me at work. The clip is on “The Today Show” website, so I was able to watch it; Zoey makes her appearance early on. (You’ll have to watch the whole video to see who is the winner)!

Cardis coming to a TV near you??

Today I got an email from a casting director from the TV show, “America’s Got Talent”:

I am a Casting Director with NBC’s America’s Got talent.

I came across your video of the Corgi’s and am very impressed with their training. We are currently casting for Season 4, and thought that it would be great to have you and the dogs on the show, doing an act. Do you have anything else on DVD that you my be able to submit to us, maybe an act of some sort that could work for the show.

You can contact me and/or send me a DVD.

Now, I will be honest in saying that I thought this was a scam of some sort–so I called the number listed. When the person answered (with a VERY British accent), I began to think it might be for real. I told him that I wanted to make sure he was, “a real person”. He didn’t quite know how to respond to that one.

So, sometime in the next few days I hope to put together a DVD with some of our ‘better’ tricks and submit it to them.

As I proved on our “Tonight Show” appearance, I have no fear of being humiliated by my dogs on national television.

It was, of course, very flattering to be asked to apply to the show.
