When Dog Trainers Get Bored
It’s no secret that I am easily bored with things. I’ve been this way my entire life. This is one of the reasons my dogs participate in numerous dog sports: I like variety. I like to train new things–all the time. Thankfully my Corgis are pretty amenable to this and will pretty much do whatever I ask them.
Trick training is one of my favorite things to do and I’m always searching for cute tricks to teach the Cardi crew. Riley was my original trick dog, but Zoey is quickly catching up to him in number of tricks learned.
Recently I decided to teach Zoey to play basketball, a trick Riley learned several years ago. They have similar styles in the slam-dunking technique, although, not surprisingly, Zoey shows a bit more enthusiasm than Riley when it comes to playing hoops. Zoey shows a bit more enthusiasm for EVERYTHING compared to Riley.
I decided to video a little competition between the veteran player Riley (3 years experience) and the rookie Zoey (1 week experience) to see who had a better shooting percentage. I’d say they are pretty similar:
